Also Miss Utah on her way to be Miss America! Now wouldn't that be the neatest thing? Having Miss America be actually someone who fights for America? She's not just a pretty face, but a trained combat medic in the Utah National Guard. You can read about her at her blog.

They have a new feature where you can vote on the Miss America candidate of your choice, and this will select the 16th surprise finalist. You can vote here (click on Utah, and vote for Jill). You can vote once a day. Let's show Jill the support she has been showing us in Afghanistan.

Manly Men Love Strong Women

Posted by: tony on 11/21/2007 03:55 AM (Read: )

We always hear about how Hillary (Rodham) Clinton is a "strong woman". A strong woman would be good for the country, but the men just can't handle the idea of a "strong woman" running the country. So her polling expert figures that almost 30% of Republican women will defect and pull the lever for Hillary simply because she has a vagina.
Last week, my hometown paper, The Atlanta Journal & Constitution, ran an online story entitled, "Clinton Pollster Predicts Defection of GOP Women." Depending solely on his own "internal" polling, Mr. Mark Penn - Public Relations guru extraordinaire, and Hillary's campaign strategist -- says that a full 24% of Republican women will punch their ballots for Hillary based on the "emotional" appeal of electing the first woman President.

LOL!!! He thinks he's dealing with Democrats. Republican women are generally a slightly different breed. Kyle-Anne Shiver is one of those, and she's gotten riled!
Clearly, Mr. Penn is either purposefully spinning or indulging in a rather perverted, nearly delusional form of magical thinking.

My vote is "purposefully spinning". Nothing that the Clinton machine does is delusional. It is cold, calculated and ruthless. The best part of the article which is worth the read, is this:
Most of the women I know have spent a great portion of their lives -- in addition to raising fine American citizens -- doing volunteer work in our communities trying to put band aids on the myriad of social problems that have become epidemic in the wake of Democrat social policies. Unwed motherhood. Broken families. Absent mothers and fathers. Broken government schools. Sex education that teaches nothing but how to do a great imitation of an alley cat in heat.

Ms. Shiver, may I call you Kyle-Anne? I think you're being a little too harsh on our public school system. Their sex education is comprehensive. They not only teach you how to behave like an alley cat in heat, they teach you how to put a condom on a cucumber. They teach that Heather can have two mommies in violation of what they are learning in biology class. They are encouraging new ways of having sex, and encouraging "questioning" youth to try homosexuality. Ma'am, they've been busy little beavers!
These mostly Republican women are still trying to make sense out of a political Party that would so strenuously object to pornography filters on public library computer terminals, while exposing their seven year-olds to lessons in how to put on a condom. These "soccer moms" (a phrase coined by Mr. Penn) give hours each week to Crisis Pregnancy Centers that offer actual help to young girls whose boyfriends flunked the condom lessons, but got the alley-cat impersonations down perfectly. These conservative women are providing meals to homeless shelters and holiday celebrations and gifts for those in need. These women are a veritable army of soldiers on the front lines of social decay, fighting not with the empty rhetoric but with actual labor to right real wrongs.

I hate to break it to you, but the Democrats are the party of the lazy, stupid and maliciously power-hungry. The third group uses its core constituency who are members of the previous two groups to promote their agenda guaranteed to keep the current lazy and stupid that way, and convert as many producers into lazy and stupid people as they can. That is the main purpose of the public school system.
So, when Hillary Rodham Clinton wails about those in our midst who have been "invisible" to Republicans, we women stand, with our mouths agape and our consciousnesses fully raised, in utter incredulity. For "the smartest woman in the world," she comes off as pretty darned dumb or blind. You pick.

You forgot answer C: Bald-faced liar.
From where we're sitting, Mr. Penn, it looks like you and Hillary don't get out of your little self-created bubble enough. We Republican women are plum full of emotion every time we see Mrs. Clinton put on yet another female face for the cameras, but it isn't the kind that you ever want to be with in a dark room alone.

This is the quintessential strong woman. I have no problem voting for strong women, I'd vote for Condi Rice in a heartbeat. The problem I have is that Hillary is a "strong woman" who wants to make you weak and dependent.

When Hillary lobbies for "the children", remember that she's talking about you too. Because we're all children with her being the only grownup.

Whackety Hit!

Posted by: tony on 08/17/2007 10:33 PM (Read: )

Sister Toldjah took off the kid gloves today in response to foul-mouthed fem-blogger Jane Hamsher's faux-indignant act:
Another day, another lefty blog, another instance of hypocrisyOver at Memeorandum, I see that Jane Hamsher's uber-lefty feminist blog Firedoglake is calling on Maine Senator Susan Collins to fire her official campaign blogger for alleged "sexist" and "misogynistic" remarks he (gasp) made towards the Firedoglake gang. For the record, here were the remarks (in response to the stories about Collins Dem opponent Tom Allen hiring a "tracker" to essentially stalk her every move):
" ...the foul-mouthed fem-blog FiredogLake ..."

The response from the fem-blog:
"I'm deeply offended that Senator Collins would speak about professional women in such a degrading and offensive manner," said Hamsher. "It is well beneath the dignity becoming a sitting Senator to engage in such coarse and misogynistic rhetoric."

Strange. So a Republican calling a feminist a feminist is "misogynistic"? Ah well. Color me guilty as charged. Oh, how I hate women!!

LOL!!! I guess that puts me firmly in the misogynist camp also. And also, can't these self professed "strong women" take some sticks and stones? Hey Jane, if you want to run with the big dogs, you have to get off the porch. :)
Christy Hardin Smith, featured FDL blogger, said: "The sexist undertones used on Sen. Collins' blog are appalling – the use of "fem-blog" is erroneous and dismissive."

No, it's what they call "descriptive" - kind of like what the Firedoglake crowd does when they describe the right as "wingnuts" (amongst other descriptive terminology they use there).

I'm not going to ruin the fun for you. Read the whole thing. It's like watching a rhetorical steel cage death match between Iron Mike Tyson and Barbara Streisand :)

I Am John Doe

Michelle Malkin writes:
Dear Muslim Terrorist Plotter/Planner/Funder/Enabler/Apologist,

You do not know me. But I am on the lookout for you. You are my enemy. And I am yours.

I am John Doe.

I am traveling on your plane. I am riding on your train. I am at your bus stop. I am on your street. I am in your subway car. I am on your lift.

I am your neighbor. I am your customer. I am your classmate. I am your boss.

I am John Doe.

I will never forget the passengers of United Airlines Flight 93 who refused to sit back on 9/11 and let themselves be murdered in the name of Islam without a fight.

I will never forget the passengers and crew members who tackled al-Qaida shoe-bomber Richard Reid on American Airlines Flight 63 before he had a chance to blow up the plane over the Atlantic Ocean.

I will never forget the alertness of actor James Woods, who notified a stewardess that Arab men sitting in his first-class cabin on an August 2001 flight were behaving strangely. The men turned out to be 9/11 hijackers on a test run.

I will act when homeland security officials ask me to “report suspicious activity.”

I will embrace my local police department’s admonition: “If you see something, say something.”

I am John Doe.

I will protest your Jew-hating, America-bashing “scholars.”

I will petition against your hate-mongering mosque leaders.

I will raise my voice against your subjugation of women and religious minorities.

I will challenge your attempts to indoctrinate my children in our schools.

I will combat your violent propaganda on the Internet.

I am John Doe.

I will support law enforcement initiatives to spy on your operatives, cut off your funding and disrupt your murderous conspiracies.

I will oppose all attempts to undermine our borders and immigration laws.

I will not be censored in the name of tolerance.

I will not be cowed by your Beltway lobbying groups in moderates’ clothing. I will not cringe when you shriek about “profiling” or “Islamophobia.”

I will put my family’s safety above sensitivity. I will put my country above multiculturalism.

I will not submit to your will. I will not be intimidated.

I am John Doe.

I am John Doe. I will racially profile you. You want to sue me? Bring it on. I am John Doe. I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Because I like neat blog buttons and such, I've created the I Am John Doe blog badge for anyone who is, as I am, John Doe. Show your support. Also, steal the image freely, but host it on your site with a link to Michelle's most excellent post.

Manly Woman of the Week

Posted by: tony on 03/17/2007 10:46 PM (Read: )

Yes, you heard that right. Manly woman of the week. Not some East German shot put champion, but a real lady, who goes by the nom de plume of Adoro te Devote. She is an ex-cop, and an ex-firefighter who has had it with radical feminism.
Maybe some women are comfortable with the idea of coasting along on some kind of legislation that permitted laziness and lawsuits for alleged "discrimination." I knew some women like that and I did my best to distance myself from them. They make all of us look like a bunch of fools. And amazingly, every woman I knew in that particular category was a rabid feminist who couldn't be bothered to put in the extra effort in the gym or with the books or whatever was required to take them out of their myopic navel-gazing worldview.

Right on. Now this is the kind of feminist who manly men can line up behind. This is someone who has made a decision on what she wants to do, and does what it takes to do it.

However, as manly men know, actions have consequences.
The fact is that although women can do the job, we have to work THREE TIMES AS HARD as men in order to do it, and our bodies really are't built to take that kind of physical stress.

This really is the crux of the issue. If a woman is strong enough, or is determined enough to become strong enough to do demanding jobs, I have never had an issue with it.

Here is a lady who understands life as it is, not as she'd like it to be. She plays the hand the she's given, and plays it the best she can. She watches out for herself, and will never be a victim, because that mentality is not a part of her. She may at some point be victimized, but she will take a piece of whoever hurts her with her, possibly if she's carrying, ventilate a scumbag and make the world safer for all of us.
I NEVER felt excluded by the term "brothers" because I had always understood this to mean "brothers and sisters."

Well right on brother. :)

Are Professional Women Less Desirable?

Posted by: tony on 01/09/2007 10:37 PM (Read: )

One of my "must reads" every day is Villainous Company. Not only for the pretty pin-up girl above the fold, but for the very probing and on-target articles that Cassandra writes.

The following statement brings tears to my eyes, and I wipe them away quick lest I have to rip up my "manly man card":
And men need to feel needed too. They need to know that what they provide: the security of a home and a future for the family, is noticed and cherished. All those hours of overtime, and planning, and promotions: they are worth something. I tried, for a few years, to get my husband to consider retiring to a less stressful job, using my income as a supplement. It took me a while to realize, and I still don't understand it, that he takes great pride in the fact that he is able to support me. And he does it better than I could - I don't dispute that fact. Although he welcomes my income and he is proud of my acheivements, I don't think he wants that role taken away. That's not why I married him. But it seems necessary to him. It grieves me considerably. He is more to me than some meal ticket.

A woman gets it! Hallelujia!!! This reminds me of a discussion I had with my daughter while she was sitting on the couch with my wife. It went something like this.

Me: "I really don't care if your mother loves me. I want her to need me, respect me, and let me know that she thinks I'm competent"

Daughter: "What??? Are you saying you don't love mom?!?!?!?!"

Me: "No, listen carefully. I love your mother more than life itself. I would gladly take a bullet for her. But I don't really care if she loves me. I want respect."

Wife: [Smiles at my daughter]

Me: "See your mom and I have different needs and motivations. She wants love and affection. I want trust and respect. If we give each other what the other needs, the marriage works a lot better".

Cassandra quotes Maureen Dowd:
So was the feminist movement some sort of cruel hoax? Do women get less desirable as they get more successful?

Not really. It's all in the attitude. The "chip on the shoulder 'I-can-do-anything-a-man-can-do'" type if feminist is supremely repugnant to a guy like me. Not because I feel "threatened" at all, but because in a relationship with a woman like that I would not be needed.

I need to be needed. I need to be the guy who kills the yucky spider in the bathroom. I need to be the guy who empties the mouse trap after catching the mouse. I need to be the guy who can hang a 75 pound mirror properly, fix a dryer, build a deck, and make the singing stuffed Christmas bear sing again.

I was at a wedding once, and the priest who delivered the homily said: "God never puts two people who are exactly alike together, because if He did, one of you would be unnecessary". I have always remembered that.

Feminists who portray themselves as "men with vaginas" have no interest for me. I want to support my family. I want to be needed. I want to be desired sexually. I want to be considered competent, respected and trusted.

Let me reiterate a line that Cass said:
That's not why I married him. But it seems necessary to him. It grieves me considerably. He is more to me than some meal ticket.

It shouldn't grieve you, Cass. He is operating exactly as designed. And "needed provider" is a very important part of who he is. I feel the same way. I don't define myself by my work. I define myself by my family role of husband and father. Providing is a big part of that job.

Women who develop a lucritive career so they "don't have to rely on any man" hold no attraction for me. Women (like my wife) who are competent in the workplace, but remind me constantly that I'm necessary, do. There is nothing wrong with a strong woman as long as she understands and communicates that she doesn't have to be strong with me. Being relied on, and being needed is very important to me. Lack of it is a deal breaker. Just like I need my wife. I cannot live without her.

Cass continues with:
The truth is that we often want different things, and the even more unpleasant truth is that for women, what we want often includes making those we care about happy. Which means, in the end, that if we are keeping score by men's rules, as Ms. Dowd seems to want to do, we will always lose.

Which brings me to the subject of feminist obsession with "success". Maureen Dowd seems the epitome of "successful" women. Great job at the NYT, respect and a lucrative salary, but all she does is moan and groan about her personal life. Does she consider herself a "success"? If offered a chance at a wonderful life with a loving man, would she give up her career to do it?

Ms. Dowd reminds me of the story about the monkey with his hand in a jar of walnuts. He was crying because he could not get his hand out of the jar because his fist was full of walnuts. All the monkey needed to do to be free was to let loose of some of the walnuts, not all of them, just some of them so his fist would pull out of the jar. He refused to do that, so he remained stuck.

Maureen, and many of her feminist contemporaries are stuck because they won't let go of some of the nuts (pun very much intended :)).

Fabuloso!

Posted by: tony on 10/11/2006 02:00 AM (Read: )

A lady speaks:

I am going to continue to plead with Western men to rise up. I beg you to be the men I know you are. Your women cannot win this war when Islam subjugates women in shrouds.

Throw off the chains of the feminists and stand to protect us if you love us (we western women). Feminism is a sham. It is yet another ploy to develop "group think" as opposed to individual liberties, et al. It is the attempt of the liberal socialists to carve out another "special interest" group as they have so heinously done to blacks in America.

Shame on them and may they - the liberal elite - be damned to eternity. I hate them for what they have done to our black youth. Taken their joy and made them victims. For this I am called "racist".

Don't lose heart, Conservative Beach Girl. Throughout history, they kill prophets. They nailed the greatest one to a cross. Keep up the good work!

Quote of the Day

Posted by: tony on 10/03/2006 11:15 AM (Read: )

From Dawn Eden at The Dawn Patrol:

Manly men are manly precisely because they are pro-God, pro-family, pro-community — not "pro-man." I believe the same is true of women, who may attain their fullest potential only within the context of their relationships with the Lord, with those in their home, and with people at large — not by putting themselves in a box marked "Double-X Chromosomes." (I picture that box as an ancient, 1930s-style suitcase, bearing peeling stickers marked "Steinem," "de Beauvoir," "Friedan," etc. — literally old, obsolete baggage.)

Authentic Manhood

Posted by: tony on 09/23/2006 11:18 AM (Read: )

Genevieve Kineke, expert on authentic Catholic femininity (womanly-woman-ness), has shifted her focus briefly on us guys. She links to a resource that discusses authentic manhood from a Catholic perspective.
While I've spent a lot of time on authentic femininity, it would be an incomplete understanding of mankind to only see half of the human equation. I've found online an outline of a marvelous presentation (ed.- Warning: hostile format) by Father Roger Landry from 2002 which gives the nuts and bolts on authentic masculinity that should be read and savoured in its entirety.

I have been filling out my definition of manhood (or manly-man-ness) for the last couple of years or so, and this is going to be a really valuable resource.

Day Of Impotence

Posted by: tony on 09/23/2006 11:45 AM (Read: )

We were warned about the Islamic "day of rage" where Islamists throughout the world would commit violence because the Pope questioned Islam as the "religion of peace". (Nobody said your average Arab Muslim was the sharpest knife in the drawer.)

Anchoress writes regarding it:
Not that it is particularly a bad thing, but as PJM notes the so-called Day of Rage during which the Islamic world was going to demonstrate against Pope Benedict has kind of fizzled out. Some Palestinians in Jerusalem set a few fires and declared the pope a Jew (I’m sure the pope did not mind - I wouldn’t).

This, I find, is one of the funniest things yet. When Pope Benedict was elected, those who disliked him (especially those on the left) were quick to call him a Nazi, because for a short time he was a member of the Nazi Youth (membership was mandatory, by the way).

Now they are claiming he's a Jew-lover, a Zionist, and now he is a Jew. The German former "Nazi" is now a Jew. Heh.

"You're a LEAN, MEAN, FIGHTING MACHINE!!!"

Posted by: tony on 09/20/2006 05:43 PM (Read: )

Get him, ladies."I'LL DO IT!!!" Says John Candy in one of my favorite scenes in one of my favorite movies of all time, "Stripes".

Candy is sitting in a strip joint with his rag-tag band of army buddies, who have just convinced him to get into the mud wrestling ring with a trio of beautiful, athletic and scantily clad women.

I guess it's the 14 year old adolescent in me who enjoyed seeing a big, overconfident goof get his ass handed to him by a few beautiful women who if you put them all together didn't appear to outweigh him.

I laugh whenever I see this and the same thing happened to John Hawkins at Right Wing News.
There's this attitude out there, a perception, that there's something wrong with beautiful women using their looks to draw readers. The idea is supposed to be that it's all about their brains, it's all about their writing, that it's cheap or improper for them to have guys checking out their web pages just to ogle them.

That's bullcrap.

I can almost picture Candy yelling "I'll do it!", and climbing into the ring in his boxers and baggy t-shirt :)

Traffic (hits) are the currency of the blogosphere. If you serve ads, then this might even translate into real currency. If you specifically use your looks to acquire currency... well... Draw your own conclusions.

That having been said, I don't believe that there is anything wrong with a beautiful woman posting her picture on her weblog. I've also come to the the conclusion that conservative lady bloggers are among the best looking in the blogosphere. Does that detract from their commentary? No way. Do I go to their blogs specifically to ogle them? Nope. Do I appreciate the good Lord's creative work in a well assembled woman? You bet.

When a woman consciously makes her blog about her looks, possibly posting provocative pics, it does indeed detract from her commentary, because that's what she has made it about on purpose. It stops being about her commentary and becomes about her looks.

Now for the match... Remember: "No poking in the eyes".
I don’t know why I bother with this *bleep*. You know, I don’t plaster my *bleep*ing mugshot all over this blog because I don’t want the kind of readers that only come here for the *bleep*ing human decoration. I suppose if I were a whore, as apparently women are expected to be, I would use my face and body for a payoff. But I don’t. Maybe that’s acceptable in your world, but it isn’t in mine.

POIK!!!!

..."And no grabbing the nose"...
Most women know what 'that kind of traffic' means, but apparently all men don't.

You see most of us have been gawked at and drooled over in real life and find some relief from that superficial attention on the internet. We know when men are listening to what we say and when they are just pretending to listen as a way to convince us they are 'sensitive' or interested in us on more than one level.

And frankly, when the reason for the attention is so obvious it gives us the creeps. Seriously.

*Grab, squeeze, SMACK!*

..."And no grabbing ears and pulling them"...

Attitudes like the John Hawkins of the blogosphere makes me NOT want to blog politically, or seriously, because it is quite obvious that most people won't listen to what a female blogger has to say, apparently we are just good for the titty shot. Whatever. You know I'm not going to quit. I'm just getting started.

*Grab, YANK!*

..."And no kicking in the balls"...
Hyperbole. It’s a word. Look it up, Hawkins.

You didn’t disagree with “them,” you disagreed with “her.” I smacked you because a) you’re an insufferable assclown who thinks his *bleep* don’t stink, and b) Beth is my best friend.

I’m all for high-minded dialogue. Once I see evidence you’re capable of doing something other than slobbering over blog-titties, I might engage you in it.

But for now, all you get are foul-mouthed beatdowns. Because, well, I’m an *bleep*, and that’s just how we act sometimes.

*C-R-A-C-K!!!*

That wasn't one of the ladies, that was Vinnie. I'm posting it because it's the nature of a manly man to come to the defense of a lady when they are insulted. Neo-feminists have a problem with this, but the ladies don't. They are happy to have the assistance from the competent menfolk.
